Member Spotlight: William “French Fry” Bateau
William “French Fry” Bateau joined Sloan Active Hose in June of 2015. William has taken classes such as EMT, CFR, Basic exterior and basic interior fire as well as pet emergencies. When William’s not responding to calls or helping out at the fire hall, you can find him attending buffalo sports games, spending time with his fiancée and pup, or driving around in his Jeep. William was a Boy Scout when he was younger and not only loved giving back to his community but gained a great interest in first aid. That along with the adrenaline rush is what pushed him to become a volunteer with Sloan! When asked what advice he has for new members William responded with, “My advice for new members is that this field is always developing new skills. Don’t ever think you’ve learned it all. Pay close attention to your classes, talk to more seasoned members if you need help, and learn from your mistakes.”
This month and always we thank William for his continued dedication to our department and community!
